Culms tufted.
Blade 9-10 cm long, linear, 1-1.5 mm wide; mouth of sheath and margins covered with long silky hairs; ligule of a ring of hairs ca. 0.3 mm long.
Inflorescence a contracted panicle, cylindrical, pilose at axils of branches. Spikelets 6-7-flowered, ca. 4 mm long; glumes chartaceous, broadly lanceolate, 1-nerved, pointed; lower glume slightly shorter, ca. 1.8 mm long; lemma chartaceous, ovatedeltoid, mucronate; palea elliptic, chartaceous, 2-keeled, cilate along keels, margins inrolled, ciliate.
Caryopsis ca. 0.5 mm long, ovate; embryo 1/2 its length of caryopsis.
